Office Move

Well, we moved our office this past weekend - from the 47th floor to the 46th floor. Lots of cleaning and packing and cleaning and packing just to move down one floor. How in the world do I accumulate so much "stuff"!!?? I brought the bare minimum with me to the new location and, amazingly, I haven't missed a single thing I didn't bring. Hmmmm, there seems to be a message there. We made this move so the floor we were on could get all new computer cabling, etc. And since the work has to be done through the ceiling, we couldn't stay where we were while they did the work. So we moved. And in four weeks we get to move back to where we were. It will be interesting to see how much "stuff" I accumulate in four weeks. Now I get to spend all day today unpacking my bosses' offices. Fun. But better than doing real work I guess.

Jo and I went to the polymer clay guild meeting Sunday (yesterday). I haven't been a very good member but intend to be more active this year, especially since I've been nominated to be the webmistress and stand a pretty good chance of getting the position. (I was volunteered, didn't offer myself up as a sacrifice.) Jo gave a demo on one of her techniques and we had a lot of fun following along. Jo didn't get the materials list on the Yahoo! Group page until Sunday morning so many of the attendees didn't even know we were having a demo and they didn't bring any supplies. Fortunately, between us we had enough extra to share so that others could also make a project.

And when I got home from the guild meeting, Gene had shampooed the living room/dining carpet!! Wow! I should leave him alone more often.

First (and last) Freebie

No, I'm not going into designing digial scrapbook papers and elements. But a while back I made a 4 pack of 8x8 papers for a mini-swap at Scrapbook-Bytes and thought maybe someone in blogland might want to have them. They are, I repeat, 8x8 papers and they are at 300 ppi.

Here's the preview:

Do not use these in any commercial application or share them with others. If others want them, send them here to my blog. (SORRY, DOWNLOAD NO LONGER AVAILABLE). Please leave me a comment and let me know how you like them.

Traffic Hell

This morning in Atlanta was traffic hell. One motivational seminar in downtown Atlanta backed up traffic for 25 miles in all directions inbound this morning. EVERY INTERSTATE IN ATLANTA. It took me over two hours to go 32 miles. Unbelievable.

I'm Networked!!

I am so psyched! I networked our home computers this weekend. That's right, little ole' me. I did it all with only about 20 minutes of help (and 30 minutes of being on hold) from the Linksys Help Desk {grin}.

Now I can sit in front of the TV with the laptop and surf the internet while watching NCIS. Life is good. Even more time wasted!!

Actually, the real reason I wanted to do this was so that Gene would be able to read his email and be on the internet at the same time I am so I wouldn't have to turn over my computer to him. Never come between a woman and her computer. He had his own computer downstairs in his office, but it wasn't hooked up to the internet. Now it is!! The next step is to figure out how to set the encryption on the network so I'm not providing internet service for my neighbors. And doing it without locking MYSELF out of my own network.

The only bad thing was, when I went down to his office and turned his computer on to start the networking process, his computer died. Just went belly-up on me. Blue screen of death, the whole thing. I finally got it started but it was acting really "hinky" (good, old-fashioned word) so I ended up buying him a new computer. Since he only uses his computer for word processing (and now surfing the net), I didn't have to get him a high-powered computer so was able to hold the cost down. His computer was old, old, old so I wasn't surprised that it died, I was just not really thrilled with the timing. But he is now a happy camper, as am I. Just a little poorer. And we still have some stuff to transfer over from his old computer to his new one - if I can keep the old one running long enough.

Change

CoffeeQueen Laurie posted a neat challenge at SBB yesterday that I just had to take part in! It appealed to the artist in me and it didn't require using a picture. So I created a layout for it. It is basically a digital collage and I want to do more work on it, but for a "quickie" I thought it turned out pretty good. It looks much better enlarged.

January 1, 2007

2006 is history now. Hard to believe. Some of it just flew past and other parts of it took way too long to get out of my life. As I was musing over things I would like to change in 2007 I came across this video on Hummie's blog (Thanks, Hummie!) and just couldn't resist sharing it.

Yep, exercise it is. Now to get started exercising. See you later....
