It's here! It's here!

My new computer was just delivered - to the wrong house. My next door neighbor just called and informed me that UPS had delivered a computer from Dell and that it had been delivered to him. He didn't realize the UPS package wasn't for him until after he signed for it. At least I don't have to worry about someone stealing it out of my carport. Now I can waste all weekend!!

NOT!

My annual earring sale for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life starts Monday and I haven't finished making all of the earrings yet!

Plus I know that Gene will want to do at least one geocache this weekend. What? I didn't mention our new GPS unit? Well, not really "our" new unit. It belongs to Gene, but he bought it because I kept talking about how much fun I thought it would be to do some geocaching. Now I have to live up to my words. He went on his first trip last weekend while I was in Asheville and found his first cache. Also had sore calf muscles the next day or so. There is an easy one somewhere at Hunter Park so I plan to do that with him tomorrow. We haven't decided what our cache item will be - when you geocache you are supposed to leave a small item in the cache when you find it (and take out a small item). So our first few will be memento-less, but we'll take pictures and that ought to be just fine.

Laptop Heaven

Dell Inspiron e1705I'm getting a new laptop!! Got my notice from Dell yesterday that it had shipped. Hope to have it by Friday. I got it through the outlet so I could afford the 17" widescreen. Which leads to a question: Why are computer screens and TV screens measured diagonally? Was (is) there a legitimate reason for this or was (is) it simply a marketing ploy so that the screen real estate can sound bigger than it really is? Every day I would check the outlet and get almost to the point of completing the purchase, then chicken out. I didn't want Windows Vista and that's all that was available. Then the day came that I saw it, "OS - Windows XP Media Center". I clicked that "Confirm purchase" button so fast it was scary. Of course, I am now having buyer's remorse since I didn't really NEED a laptop. And they aren't cheap, even from the outlet. But it's too late to change my mind now. So I might as well relax and enjoy my new computer. And while I was wandering around Wal-Mart Friday night in Asheville, I came across what I hope is the perfect computer tote! It's black with a red interior. Now all I need (at least for right now {grin}) is a portable EHD and I'll be set to travel.

Play Day

Play day at the Blue Ridge Polymer Clay Guild in Asheville, NC. Maggie is demonstrating.

And this is what Barb and I played with - alcohol inks!
