A Mental Cleansing

I went for a long walk at lunch today to try to clear my head of all of the negative thoughts that have taken root there over the past few days. This may sound a little cliché, but there is a church across the street from my building with a nice, quiet garden around the back and I thought maybe just sitting in a beautiful place would help.  And it did.  I'm not going to say that a feeling of sublime peace came over me or anything like that, but it did help slow the pace of my thoughts.  The warmth of the sun, the serenity of the setting and the absence of other people around helped me gain control of myself again.  And, of course, the camera came out.  This is a crop of a slightly larger photo.  I have always been told to "crop in the camera" and I do, most of the time.  But sometimes backing up allows the perspective to be right and you can then crop in to the picture you envisioned.  This is such a case.

I was discussing my brother's situation with my boss today and I used the same "Some days are diamonds, some days are stones" phrase with him.  He reminded me that some stones, under pressure, become diamonds.  I like that thought.

This looks like a very beautiful, serene place to take a break from your stressful day.

What a lovely photo too. I actually favor taking in the larger perspective at times and cropping after downloading. If you're like me, you probably shoot the image many different ways, and then choose the one you like the best later.

Sending you and your family prayers for peace in your hearts and complete healing for your brother.
