I WON! I WON!

I was one of the three winners in the first weekly layout contest at www.ztampf.com! I can't believe it! I was very proud of my entry but never expected it to win. As I said, there is a lot of talent out there in digiscrap land. You can see my entry in the post previous to this one, it's the one of my grandmother. I'm really excited about this, can you tell? I absolutely adore Fhung Lie's designs and use them frequently so it was great to know she and her creative team liked my design. Now I get to do a little shopping.............

Miss Me?

I've been a busy, busy little girl (ok, big girl) the past few weeks. Haven't had time to do much of anything except work. Nice to be busy at the office, but a little moderation would be good!! I created two entries for Ztampf's (Fhung Lie) Contest in her store that I think turned out quite nice. Not much chance of winning what with all of the talented designers and scrapbookers out there, but I had a good time doing these and I learned some new things in the process. I actually made use of the MeshWarp tool in PSP and the Lighten/Darken tool, both tools with which I had very limited experience. All of the elements and papers in both were created by Ztampf. Want to see my entries? Here they are:

My mother was released from wearing her "stylish" broken toe boot yesterday and she was finally able to drive her new car!! She is going to love it. It drives so much better than her old car. And looks a lot better too!

Talked with Jackie today about StampArt Jubilee. They are going to officially close the store in the next month or two. She seems excited about going back into nursing full time. I can't say I blame her, running your own business creates an incredible amount of stress and I'm sure it will feel pretty good to let someone else take care of the details for a change. And to have insurance benefits. I'm basically taking the store webpage down today and Jackie will re-open it when she has time to get the on-line store going.

Now back to the salt mines...

Martha's Soap Opera

I've had an interesting(?) last few days. My mother was finally released on Monday by her orthpedic doctor after she fell in February and broke her pelvis. Wednesday, she rear-ended the car in front of her, totalling her 1992 Volvo wagon, and breaking her big toe in the process. But it could have been a lot worse. Thank goodness for the sturdiness and safety factor of a Volvo. Not sure what caused the wreck other than her not paying attention. But she is now immobile again because she can't drive with a broken toe and no car. I checked out newer Volvo's in the Atlanta area and Thursday bought a 1998 Volvo wagon from a dealer here in Atlanta. It had just been traded in that day and had only 62,000 miles on it. It is in excellent condition and is a really sweet car! I drove it down to her house Friday night so she could see it. I think she really liked it. I know she was surprised that I bought it! Thank goodness for savings accounts. I got a really good price on this car so was able to pay cash for it. I'm taking it back to the dealer tomorrow night to do a front end alignment and to finish signing the papers. It drives really well and is well equipped with high end items like 3 memory positions for the driver's seat, power everything and a moon roof (which she will never use - but, hey, it's there if she wants it!). It has a fold-out rear seat which faces backwards and is one of the weirdest things ever. Has a great dual air-conditioning system - we drove around Saturday with the heater going on one side and the air conditioner going on the other (just for fun, of course!). I think she will really enjoy it. I bought a 4-year/48,000 mile warranty so she should be "good to go" as soon as her toe heals.
