No Fried Green Tomatoes

But I'm hoping for lots and lots of bright red ripe tomatoes! Saint Gene and I purchased and planted 15 tomato plants this year - I think you can guess who did the buying and who did the planting, right? And we have a bumper crop of wonderful bright green, baby tomatoes, both big and small. My mother had some Earth Box planters at her house that were growing weeds since she no longer lives there so Saint Gene packed them up, weeds and all, and brought them to our house. Now all five of them are happily growing new plants - Snow peas in one, potatoes (?) in one, a hibiscus in one and 2 tomato plants each in the remaining two. We also are trying some on the Topsy Turvey upside down tomato planters, we have two tomato plants in the ground (what an original concept!) and three planted in huge pots. Two of the tomatoes are of the grape variety, perfect for salads, and the remainder are Big Boy, Better Boy, Goliath, Goliath Bush and German Queen, an heirloom variety. They are all thriving and we are planning on doing some serious tomato harvesting and eating this summer. My mouth waters just thinking about them. Bread, mayonnaise, tomato slice(s), salt, pepper. Paradise. I can hardly wait.

I love SNOW PEAS this year. I'm totally hooked on them for snacks. I'm curious how the upside-down tomatoes will grow and flourish- let me know which did best.

I'll be curious to find out how the Earth Box tomatoes compare to the in-ground ones. I've been thinking of getting a couple of Earth Boxes, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
