You Don't Know Until You Try

Photobucket
I haven't been very productive with my painting lately. But I did get one finished. Or at least I think it's finished. While I like this one very much, it isn't my favorite. I'm not sure I like the dead center subject treatment. I've always been told and always agreed that placing the subject matter off center creates a more interesting composition. But recently a well-respected teacher said that when painting in a square format (the painting is 15"x15") it is perfectly fine to have the subject dead center. So I tried it. And I like the painting. But I think I would like it more in the format I'm used to. But you don't know until you try and I'm glad I tried it. Because now I know.

I love the texture on the jug, and the color. OK, so I like the whole thing. Nice work.

Hi Ernie! This one is a bit different for you, and I like it! The jug is wonderful, I can almost feel the texture, and the colors make me happy. Good one!

I like the painting and know objects can be centered but think I'd like this better offset.

This is really stunning!!! I love the interesting shapes of the shadows. I think it is the shadows that makes the dead center subject work and become amazing. Also, you are the queen of color combinations and once again, these are lush and perfect!
