Enough with the Tobacco, Already!

Tobacco Hands

Tobacco Hands 2
Last post about the tobacco barn, promise. You know, it didn't strike me until just yesterday why they call the tied bunches of tobacco "hands". I mean, it was really a serious d'uh moment! It has to be because the size of each bundle is about the maximum amount of leaves you can hold in one hand - a hand full. Tobacco leaves are quite large and you hold them together, stem end up, in one hand, wrap the stems together with string with the other hand and then tie the string off. You can see the tied bunches or "hands" in the above photos.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
